REAL VOICES, REAL IMPACT: SEE HOW THE MATRICENTRIC WAY IS TRANSFORMING LIVES
A friend and colleague had just completed the program and raved about her experience. I had resisted going down the "matrescence" rabbit hole (which I’m now kicking myself for!), but the more I explored maternal identity further, the more I realized it was something I couldn’t avoid. I was drawn in by the powerful language Chelsea Robinson used on her website, like “The way we are supporting mothers needs to change” and “Mothers need validation, normalization, and one another. They need education, data, and a paradigm shift.” These statements resonated with me and captured what I knew was true from my personal and professional experiences.
Chelsea didn’t just deliver on what she promised—she knocked it out of the park. From the beginning, I started learning concepts and tools I could immediately share with my clients, and I saw its instant impact. Having the words to describe what so many new moms are feeling, coupled with the research and data to more powerfully say, “You’re not alone,” has been a game changer. I feel incredibly grateful to have been a participant and to now count Chelsea as a mentor. The course materials, resources, and reflection prompts are something I know I’ll return to again and again for probably years to come. We covered so much, and yet, it feels like we’ve just scratched the surface in the best way.
If you’re feeling called to learn more about how to truly support moms through their transition into motherhood, to find the words to describe their experiences, and to better understand the unique challenges mothers face today, I can’t recommend this training program enough.”
“I signed up for The Matricentric Way because of my deep interest in how becoming a mother impacts a mother's identity.
“The Matricentric Way training by Mama's Modern Village is nothing short of transformative
The depth and thoroughness of the information provided are impressive—it’s clear that every topic is rooted in extensive research and insight into the multifaceted experiences of motherhood today. Beyond simply delivering information, this training truly takes you on a profound emotional and reflective journey, pushing you to explore your beliefs and reflect on your own matrescence.
Each module brings so many 'aha' moments as you realize how much of your understanding of motherhood has been shaped by implicit norms and expectations. The training gives you the tools to thoughtfully question and redefine what it means to mother in an empowered way. I walked away with not only a wealth of knowledge but a newfound clarity and confidence in my own mothering journey and in helping other moms along theirs.”
“Chelsea is so incredibly smart, deeply knowledgeable, passionate, and nurturing
I came across Chelsea’s training at the perfect time in my own Matrescence journey. Through our learnings, I’ve been able to explore the meaning of Matresence, the history around our societal norms and expectations for mothers, and also how powerful the coming together of mothers can be.
Chelsea is so incredibly smart, deeply knowledgeable, passionate, and nurturing. Giving myself this opportunity to study with her has been one of the best gifts I’ve given myself in a long while.
“It has heightened my own self-awareness, critical thinking and reflection as a therapist and as a mother
Participating in Chelsea’s training and learning about the theories of matrescence, patriarchal motherhood, rage, empowered mothering, and the mask of motherhood has been profoundly transformative both personally and professionally.
As a therapist, this training has enriched my practice in numerous ways. It provided me with a more comprehensive understanding of matrescence, particularly in highlighting the psychological, emotional and spiritual changes mothers experience during the transition to motherhood.
In particular, exploring patriarchal motherhood has been eye-opening in my practice. It has sharpened my clinical understanding of the systemic issues surrounding motherhood, particularly within patriarchal structures. This understanding has enabled me to help clients critically examine and challenge these norms, empowering them to define their motherhood experience authentically.
On a personal level, this training has also been deeply impactful. It has heightened my own self-awareness, critical thinking and reflection as a therapist and as a mother. It gave me language and words for what I myself went through during my own matrescene. It allowed me to feel seen and understood in a deeply meaningful way and has been instrumental in my own healing. I look back at what I experienced as a new mother with sadness but also gratitude, hopefulness and self-compassion. Learning about these theories have given me the opportunity to offer grace, compassion and forgiveness to myself within my motherhood journey.
This training has not only enriched my professional practice and personal growth but has also ignited a passion for advocacy and collective consciousness raising. It has empowered me to use my voice and expertise to advocate for systemic change, challenge societal norms, and foster a more supportive and equitable environment for mothers.
“Having new vocabulary allowed me to reframe how I was experiencing my own mothering journey and also how I was able to relate to other fellow mothers
I came across Chelsea and her work through a local women's business network. I was immediately drawn to the information she was sharing about Matrescence, a word I wasn't all that familiar with at the time but came to understand deeply through our work together.
Having new vocabulary allowed me to reframe how I was experiencing my own mothering journey and also how I was able to relate to other fellow mothers:
Coming to further understand and building deep appreciation for the fact that mothering IS indeed hard work, but that in this time of our lives it's harder, more complicated, and more deeply layered than it's ever been. And as Chelsea says, that's not because of ME and how I'm mothering, it's because of collective societal norms and expectations that are all around us, influencing us at all times. Acknowledging that in itself allowed me to take some pressure off from the way I mother, the mistakes I make along the way, and the mixed emotions that often come up for me within mothering.
I was EXCITED to share this knowledge with mothers that I connected with, especially within my own work. I was able to validate them and their unique experiences in new ways.
My passion for supporting mothers lit up, particularly by encouraging them to advocate HARD within their own constrained systems and reminding them that we can celebrate our unique experiences for being unique instead of constantly having to strive to keep up with whatever the external expectations may be.
Once you're in the "Matricentric way," you can never go back ;)
“I hope this program grows and is able to reach more people, especially clinical professionals working with mothers
After seeing perinatal mental health clients for a few years, I was feeling completely jaded by the current way we are approaching perinatal mental health. The majority of the patients I saw were having a normal reaction and response to mothering in a system designed to make us feel guilt, shame, and a failure for feeling this way.
My frustration led me down a path seeking answers for the unending questions I had. In this quest, I found myself in the world of Matrescence, Motherhood Studies and Matricentric Feminism. I was equally excited for the new insights learned and infuriated for not having this information be mentioned in even the slightest in my trainings for mental health and midwifery.
Fast forward a bit, I stumbled across The Matricentric Way in a late night Google reboot hole. I immediately knew I would love this program and signed up. The program’s combination of Matrescence, Matricentric feminism, and maternal mental health was exactly what I was looking for. A way to process and synthesize the learning I’d done in these areas separately, together. I fully expected the program to be outstanding professionally, but was not expecting it to be so fulfilling and therapeutic for me personally. From the marketing emails I received leading up to the start date (I had already paid, but each email made me want to pay all over again ), which spoke to the depths of my weary, motherhood-support professional soul, to the flood gates of 18 years worth of tears that had been held back in my own personal mothering journey that spilled freely IN THE VERY FIRST 20 minutes of our first official meeting, to finding confidence in speaking with vulnerability in a group setting.
I can’t recommend The Matricentric Way enough. I hope this program grows and is able to reach more people, especially clinical professionals working with mothers.
